March 21, 2007 || 9:50 AM Reyner Banham loves Los Angeles Found via cityofsound: an absolutely wonderful 1972 documentary wherein Reyner Banham - yes, he of all those architectural theory/history books - tours LA in a bushy beard, big sunglasses and hat. "I love the place in a way that goes beyond sense or reason" he declares. When did the BBC stop commissioning such works of genius? 1 Comments:
Three of the tour hosts at Esotouric Bus Adventures in LA trained under Reyner Banham as undergraduates at UC Santa Cruz, and he utterly changed the way we see our native Southern California. In tribute, we will be launching a new tour in fall 2007 called "Reyner Banham Loves Los Angeles," to join such city tours as Raymond Chandler's Los Angeles, The Real Black Dahlia, John Fante's Bunker Hill, Weird West Adams, Pasadena Confidential and Riot on Sunset Strip.
